SMF havas potencan sistemon por privataj mesaĝoj. Tiuj ĉi privataj mesaĝoj estas tre similaj al afiŝoj, sed ili ne aperas en publika fadeno. Nur la sendanto kaj la elektitaj ricevantoj povas vidi privatan mesaĝon - administrantoj ne povas legi viajn privatajn mesaĝojn, krom se ili speciale serĉas ilin en la datumbazo de la forumo.
Neregistritaj gastoj ne povas sendi privatajn mesaĝojn, kaj oni ne povas sendi privatajn mesaĝojn al gastoj. Tamen, se sendinto de privata mesaĝo estas poste forigita de la forumo, tiam li aperas en la listo de privataj mesaĝoj kiel gasto.
Laŭ la defaŭlto, SMF-forumo permesas la sendadon de 4.294.967.296 privataj mesaĝoj entute, do estas tre malprobable, ke oni iam ajn atingos tiun limon.
Privataj mesaĝoj
Se vi alklakas Privataj mesaĝoj en la ĉefa menupanelo vi vidos paĝon, kiu montras ĉiujn privatajn mesaĝojn ricevitajn - tio estas via enirkesto.
Supre estas listo de privataj mesaĝoj en aranĝo simila al tiu de fadenlisto en forumparto. En la unua kolumno de la listo estas bildeto kiu montras, ĉu vi jam respondis al mesaĝo aŭ ne. Se estas sageto en la bildo, tio signifas, ke vi jam respondis. Neniu sageto signifas, ke vi ne respondis. La dua kolumno montras la daton, kiam la privata mesaĝo sendiĝis. Post tio estas kolumno por la temo de la mesaĝo, kaj dekstre de tio estas montrata la nomo de la ano, kiu sendis la mesaĝon. En la plej dekstra kolumno estas markbutonoj por elekti mesaĝojn, kiujn vi volas forigi. Notu, ke vi povas ordigi privatajn mesaĝojn laŭ dato, sendinto kaj temo.
Kiam vi alklakas la temon de privata mesaĝo, la forumo kondukos vin al la teksto de la mesaĝo. Ĝi aspektas same kiel afiŝo en fadeno. Apud ĉiu mesaĝo estas ligiloj por citi, respondi aŭ forigi la mesaĝon. Se vi ricevas ofendan privatan mesaĝon, vi povas raporti ĝin al administranto per klako al Raporti al administristo, kiu troviĝas malsupre dekstre en mesaĝo.
Por vidi la mesaĝojn, kiujn vi jam sendis, alklaku unue Mesaĝoj kaj tiam Senditaj mesaĝoj en la menuo. Mesaĝoj konserviĝas en Senditaj mesaĝoj nur, se vi elektas la markobutonon Konservi kopion en Senditaj mesaĝoj antaŭ ol vi sendos la mesaĝon.

Sending a personal message
- Enter the name or the names of the person/s you are sending it to in the To box (the Bcc box can be used to conceal additional recipients of the message).
- Enter the subject in the subject box.
- Write your message in the box below. Remember that Basic BB Codes work the same for Personal Messages as they do for posting.
- When you are finished with your message push the 'Send Message' button to send or the 'Preview' to preview.
You also will reply to messages using the same method.
Label System
To keep better control and organization of your personal messages, in SMF 2.0 we introduced a method for you to apply labels to your messages. When you apply a label you will then be able to view just the personal messages with that label. All of your labels will be listed on the left menu under the category Labels. To manage your labels so you can edit label names, delete labels and create new ones, go to the left menu under the category Preferences and click on Manage Labels.
