Current Stable Version

The current stable version is . This is the most recent version in the current series .x.

Older versions of the current series

If you are running an earlier version in the current series (a version in the .x earlier than version ) it is recommended that you update to the current stable version as soon as possible. The current stable version has all the latest security enhancements, features, and bug fixes. To bring your forum to the latest version in the current series, your options may include:

  • Please update prompt. If an update patch is available for your version, you will find a message, with a link, requesting you to automatically install the update, using SMF's Package Manager. If your forum passes all the install tests, all of your installed mods will be retained. A complete list of available Package Manager Updates is available on the Simple Machines website at Package Manager Updates. If this works, it will retain your installed mods.
  • If you are a few versions behind in the current series, it may be possible to apply one patch after another in order to reach the current stable version.
  • Small Update, if you are using the previous version in the series. Available from download.simplemachines.org. Uninstall all mods before beginning, and reinstall them afterwards.
  • Large Upgrade, if you are using an earlier version in the series, or your mods give you trouble. Available from download.simplemachines.org. Uninstall all mods before beginning, and reinstall them afterwards.
  • Full Install, if all else fails. Available from download.simplemachines.org. Reinstall all mods afterwards.
