SMF 2.0 introduces the new moderation center. The new moderation center is packed full of tools for moderators and administrators to track moderation actions, member issues, and much more. SMF allows access to the Moderation center by the permission system so anyone can be allowed to view the Moderation center depending on what the admin would like.
Main
Moderation Center
On SMF 2.0 forums, there is a new tab, called Moderate. It allows moderators to have access to a page which has tools to help them moderate the forum. This is similar to the admin tab.
- On the front page of the Moderate center, there are sections for Recent Topic Reports, Membergroup Requests, and Recent Watched Members. The moderators can customize the look of this page.
- Recent Topic Reports shows the most recent topics that were reported by other users.
- Recent Watched Members lists the most recent members that moderators are watching.
- Membergroup Requests shows all of the people who are requesting to join a certain group.
- From the link called Main, there is a drop-down menu allowing the moderator to access other pages.
- Moderation Log tells the administrators what the moderators have been doing. This feature is to keep track of moderators, to make sure that they are obeying the forum's moderator Code of Conduct. (If one is set)
- Warning Log is a log of all warnings given by moderators and admins alike.
- Watched Members lists all members who are being watched.
- Be aware that, if a member has their posts moderated, you can only view any attachments to that post, by following the link on the posts' subject. This will allow you to view the entire post.
Moderation Log
The moderation log records all moderation actions as they happen on the forum. This only includes moderation actions, not general forum actions. The information recorded is:
- Action - Any time a topic is locked, stickied, merged, split, or removed, an entry is created in the log. If a post is modified or deleted, a log entry is also created.
- Date - The forum keeps track of the date and time that each action occurred.
- Member - The member that performed the action is also saved.
- Position - The member's primary membergroup is shown, however additional membergroups are not listed.
- IP - A member's internet protocol address is attached to each action they perform.
Moderators and administrators can search through these logs with the quick search feature located at the button of the moderation log. Administrators can remove logs only if the log is 24 hours old. Before the moderation log will be available, Moderation, Administration and User Logs must be enabled under Admin > Configuration > Core Features.

Details
- Moderator Comments - The moderator comments field is used by moderators and administrators to discuss the reported issue or to simply make notes. The offending user is not aware of comments recorded/noted.
- Ignore - the Ignore button closes the case and removes it from the active reports queue. This will make the report not show up in the count of open reports for all moderators.

Old Reports
Membergroups
Membergroup Requests
For moderate groups requests tool be enabled, the member must be a group moderator. Group moderators can be set through (Admin > Membergroups > Edit membergroup). Once enabled any group moderator will be able to see the list of groups and if anyone is waiting approval to join a group.
View Membergroups
The View Groups section of the Moderation Center lists all users in their respective membergroups. Membergroups are coloured and a count is provided of how many members each membergroup contains.
Clicking on a membergroup name will take you to a new page where it will show you the membergroup details such as color, rank image and count. It will also show the members and respective details of that membergroup paginated. The members will be primarily sorted by username in alphabetical order, from here you can remove or add people to this membergroup.
Membergroups on the initial page are in order of creation. Administrator will come first, followed by Global Moderator, followed by anything else you have added. Ranks are not included in the membergroup listing.
Preferences
- And on to the last link. The Preferences link allows the moderator to change his/her settings for the moderation center.
Change Settings
This section allows the setting of some personal preferences for moderation related activities such as email notifications, and display of visible moderation items.
The moderation items will be listed with checkboxes, selecting and saving will add or remove functionality from the moderation section. Open Report count in the forum header will in parenthesis have a number displayed next to the "Moderate" button stating the number of posts reported and awaiting action.
Notify of topic reports and report of items waiting will email the user when an action is needed, with a toggle for all or only actively moderated boards by the specified user.
