Replies are simply [[post]]s that are not the first post within a [[topic]]. In other words, a reply is every post in a topic except the first.
A reply is any [[post]] in a [[topic]] other than the first post. If a moderator splits a topic into two, one of the replies in the original topic will become the [[topic]] post of the new topic.

Replies are subject to the same limits as other posts (4,294,967,296). The number of replies a topic may have is the same as the limit on the number of posts, and as such it is very unlikely this limit will ever be reached.
