Zodra je het registratie proces beëindigd hebt, zal je in staat zijn voor de eerste keer in te loggen op de site. Nadien kan je kiezen of je voor altijd ingelogd wil blijven of uitgelogd op het eind van je bezoek.
Inloggen
Je moet inloggen na registratie en nadat je uitgelogd werd na een eerder bezoek. Je hebt de keuze tussen het normale inlog scherm en de snelle inlog opties.
Het inlog scherm
Dit is het scherm dat je ziet als je de "Inloggen" optie van het hoofdmenu gebruikt. Het is ook het eerste dat je zal zien in een forum voor 'alleen leden'.
- Gebruikersnaam - De gebruikersnaam van het lid.
- Paswoord - Het paswoord van het lid.
- Open ID - Het open ID van het lid.
- Aantal minuten dat je ingelogd blijft - Het aantal minuten dat de browser cookie zal meegaan alvorens te vervallen.
- Altijd ingelogd blijven - Laat de browser cookie nooit vervallen.
Als je een gezamenlijke computer gebruikt zou een gebruiker niet altijd ingelogd mogen blijven of ook niet de optie Altijd ingelogd blijven mogen aanvinken, tenzij ze onthouden om uit te loggen als ze klaar zijn. Een account ingelogd laten op een gezamenlijke computer maakt het kwetsbaar om gebruikt te worden door iemand anders dan de gebruiker.
De snelle inlog
Een SMF forum kan ingesteld worden om in te loggen van elke pagina. Dit noemt men snelle inlog. In het standaard thema staat het bovenaan link van elke pagina. Andere thema's kunnen het geplaatst hebben op andere locaties. Als snelle inlog uitgeschakeld is of niet gezien kan worden kan het inlog scherm nog altijd opgevraagd worden via het hoofdmenu.
The session length drop-down menu corresponds to the Minutes to stay logged in option from the login screen. Similarly, selecting Forever in this drop-down menu is the same as checking the Always stay logged in option on the login screen.
Password reminder
If a password is forgotten or lost, it can be reset by selecting the Forgot your password? option from the login screen. The username or email address for the account is requested to begin the password reset process.
If the member has not set a secret question, an email containing a password reset link is automatically sent to the member's email address. Selecting the link allows the member to choose a new password. If a secret question has been set, they will be given the option of receiving the email or answering their question.
After answering their secret question correctly, a member may choose a new password. The password takes effect and can be used to login immediately.
Logging out
When you have finished browsing the forum, you may decide to logout. Perhaps you share a workstation with someone else, in which case leaving yourself logged in would not be a good idea. So select the Logout option from the Main Menu and the Forum should log you out, turning you into an instant guest, clearing your name from the list of users online and safeguarding your Forum identity until you choose to login again.
